Baby Basics
Baby Basics helps young pregnant women and new moms living in the residence learn the ABC’s of basic physical care and parenting of a newborn baby.
You will receive one-on-one teaching of the basic information and skills you need to take care of your baby in the first six weeks of life. You’ll receive as many sessions as you need to learn about:
- Characteristics of a newborn including sleeping patterns
- Bathing, diapering and dressing a newborn
- Breastfeeding
- Sterilizing and bottle feeding
- Ready for hospital admission
- Baby layette and essential items
- Basic safety issues
Most young women begin the program when they are seven months pregnant and need to demonstrate to the teacher that you have learned all of these basic skills. Please let us know if you want your partner to attend the sessions with you.
