Funding & Partnerships
Funding
Funding for residential service varies, depending on the referral source and in some cases (as with City of Ottawa shelter funding), on the age of the young woman. It is important to note that a source of per diem financial support must be identified for each young woman who lives at the residence, in order to allow St. Mary’s Home to provide the required services. Clarification of funding source will be discussed with the referring professional at the time of intake.
Partnership with Referral Sources
St. Mary’s Home works in partnership with those professionals who have referred young women to the residence, as well as with other appropriate service providers, to assess the unique needs of each young person and to develop an Individualized Plan of Programs and Services best suited to that individual.
This holistic, collaborative approach increases the likelihood of positive outcomes for the young mothers and their babies. For this reason, we encourage referring professionals to maintain the connection with us and to work with us to facilitate support and services for the young mothers and their babies, both while they are in our care and when they have completed their stay at the St. Mary’s Home Residence.
When St. Mary’s Home Residence is not the right choice
Our goal is to provide service to as many young pregnant women and new mothers who need our support as we can. However, there are certain parameters we must set.
Although we have partnerships with agencies such as Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services, we are not a direct provider of addiction counseling and cannot accommodate young women who are actively using drugs.
However, we are always ready to discuss an individual case and to facilitate connections with the right resources. If you are aware of a young pregnant woman who is actively using drugs or alcohol, we encourage you to contact us for an assessment and for a discussion of the service options available.
