I'm Over It Aren't I?

I'm Over It, Aren't I? provides a safe and confidential environment where you can examine present or historical abuse in your life and its effects on you.   Understanding experiences of physical, mental, or emotional abuse, experiencing or witnessing family violence, partner assault, childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault or rape, abuse in families of origin and the generational impacts of abuse will be explored.

Sessions:

Week 1: Introduction and Group Outline
Week 2: Overview and Safety Issues
Week 3: Silencing
Week 4: Tactics and Effects of Abuse 1

Week 5: Tactics and Effects of Abuse 2

Week 6: Coping Mechanisms

Week 7: Boundaries and Protecting Ourselves from Abusive People and Situations

Week 8: Self-care and Healing

Week 9: Closure and Evaluation

I'm Over It, Aren't I? is guided by participants. A flexible and informal format is used to encourage group discussion. Participants' comfort level with personal sharing is respected. Giving information about personal experience is NOT required to be a participant in the group. At no time will you be "put on the spot" or questioned about your experiences.

The program is offered once a week for nine weeks. Each session is two hours long with a fifteen minute break in the middle.
